A Historic Residence Overlooking the Mediterranean

From a historic private residence in Marina Grande to a contemporary luxury villa by the sea, Villa del Maggiore tells a story of Mediterranean elegance, architectural heritage, and refined hospitality.

Built in 1950 on the rocks of Marina Grande, Villa del Maggiore was originally conceived as an exclusive private residence owned by Italian Air Force General Sebastiano Vecchi. From the very beginning, the villa was designed as an intimate retreat overlooking the sea, immersed in the extraordinary light of the Gulf of Naples and surrounded by the authentic atmosphere of Sorrento’s historic fishing village.

Its unique seafront location quickly transformed the property into one of the most distinctive and private residences along the Sorrento Coast. Over the decades, the villa preserved its architectural identity and its deep connection with the surrounding Mediterranean landscape.

In 2020, the property underwent an extensive restoration and interior redesign project aimed at reinterpreting the villa through a contemporary vision of luxury hospitality while carefully preserving its original character.

The architectural intervention enhanced the historic soul of the residence through the use of natural materials, essential textures, Mediterranean color palettes, and minimalist design solutions inspired by contemporary coastal living.

Today, indoor and outdoor spaces merge seamlessly through panoramic openings, tactile surfaces, and natural light that constantly interacts with the sea, creating an atmosphere of understated sophistication.

Despite its contemporary transformation, Villa del Maggiore still preserves the timeless elegance and intimacy of a private Mediterranean residence, now reimagined as a luxury villa in Sorrento designed for authentic and exclusive experiences.

The villa represents a refined balance between history and contemporary design — a modern expression of Mediterranean luxury shaped by privacy, architecture, landscape, and timeless Italian beauty.
